Did you know a child’s foot contains more cartilage than bone, which overtime will harden into adult bones? The structure of the foot develops fully by the first 2 years however, the bones themselves will not fully develop until around the age of 18. This is why it is important for children to have regular foot check-ups to help prevent later problems as adults.
In addition, most foot problems and pains in adulthood are from ill-fitting shoes or poor foot experiences during childhood. Improper footwear can caused injury or deformity later in life. At West Mississauga Foot Clinic, we can help your children prevent problems that will bother your child as adolescents or adults.
